My initial motivation for this blog (many, many months ago) was subscribing to a CSA, which I did for the first time last year. Although I never actually wrote about my experiences last year, I did religiously take photos each week of the bounty produced by Farmer Rick and his interns at the "farm college." Here are a couple of those photos. (Great first box last year!)
I do miss the eggs - not an option this year with the CSA. I offered to help out with the newsletter each week this year, which is an extra service Farmer Rick provides, along with helpful guides and directories about local and organic produce.
The newsletter is one page, and sometimes (OK, every week) I want to put more in there than will fit. I needed a place to post those extra "bonus" recipes, or those that require a bit more explanation than can gracefully fit into a Word newsletter template. Since I am paying the nice folks at TypePad for this space, I think it will work just fine (the thinking was along the lines of gym memberships purchased with good intentions: if I pay for it, I will use it...). So here goes blog 2.0.
[I'll try to start taking some new pictures of this year's boxes soon. Currently the rest of my photos are being held hostage on a machine running Vista, which my husband--during a bout of what I hope was temporary insanity--installed on our main home PC. His mother, who was the only 65+ woman I know who subscribed to PC Magazine before they canceled the print edition, reformats her hard drive about every month for fun, so I guess he got it honest...]
