Because it's what I really wanted for my birthday, yesterday my husband and I took the day off. We were planning to go for a rare long bike ride together, but the flood warnings nixed that idea. So instead we ate. And ate. And ate.
First, we went for a Frederick Restaurant Week lunch at Quynn's Attic in downtown Frederick.
We had a nice view from our table by the window, onto E. Patrick Street below. It was a rainy Friday, but a few people were still out and about.
Our three-course lunch was excellent, starting with the bean stew.
For the main course, I chose the shrimp pasta in a creamy pesto-like sauce, and my husband enjoyed the Cajun steak sandwich (which he had gnawed on before I got a photo...)
Finally--the best part--dessert! We shared the cheesecake and the chocolate mousse cake, which are quite good eaten together.
After lunch, we walked down to Moxie to register for the Cupcake Run. I love the little orange flowers on the tables.
But, if you're more interested in the pastries, here were yesterday's offerings.
We ended the day with the Truffle Shuffle (part 2!) at The Kitchen Studio. More on that later, but here's a hint of the deliciousness with Chef Christine starting some salted caramel truffles.
Despite the rain, it was a great day. (Really, with all that chocolate, how could it not be?)
Great photos!!! The food at Quynn's and the macro flower at Moxie turned out especially well. :-)
Can't wait to hear more about the truffle class. I'm kind of kicking myself for not signing up for it.

Thanks - I really like the way the flower pic turned out too. I was thinking of you when I took it! :) Truffle class was a lot of fun. Beth, Cathy and I were plotting a food tweet-up... I'm thinking cookbook swap.
