I'm always paranoid about getting enough calcium. This is a great dessert, and guilt-free!
- 1 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granola (optional)
If using frozen berries, thaw in microwave for about 30 seconds (they'll be warm). Mix yogurt and vanilla, add berries and top with granola (or almonds, or toasted oats...).
I love berries of all types. Growing up in North Carolina, wild blackberries grew in any field left to nature. My grandma and I would pick blackberries for hours (one for me, one for the basket...). She made the best pies, and biscuits every day with actual lard. I live in Maryland now. I tried picking some blackberries growing in my suburban neighborhood. Aside from getting some strange looks, I got more Japanese beetles than anything else, but that's a rant for another day...
